Dentofacial Orthopaedics surgery

Dentofacial orthopedics is the process of normalizing the growth of a patient’s bone structure to repair imbalances of the face and jaw. This process often involves a two-phase treatment and often begins when the patient is around 7 or 8 years old. While orthodontics entails the management of tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics involves the guidance of facial growth and facial development, which occurs for the most part during childhood, and is a reason why kids are often the best candidates for receiving dentofacial orthopedic therapy. Dentofacial orthopedics is also used to treat adult patients at Hier & Palmer Orthodontics, however, this process may involve surgery.
